Take a look at the Sardinia thread.. see if that could be a possible way to go.. it does cover the types of things that you appear to need/want..
Or.. contact a Moderator and request it be discussed.

Actually I do support them, it was a tongue in cheek remark showing they needed it just to accomplish a task to accomplish their needs.

Oops, almost did it again!

Rest assured, I hope they get what they want. Good suggestion came thru in the meantime to start a thread. That may be the beginnings of what they want, uh, need.

Re: Localized regional forums

The social groups section is nice but functions alot more like Facebook than a forum. it's hard to organize and search for content.

To date, we have not set up regional sections of the forum but if there is a large enough group it might merit consideration. That said, most of the content about mechanical and tech issues is already housed in other sections of the board so a regional section might focus on regulatory issues, and local places.

Hi Janet,

I am active in aviation (where PPRuNe is dominating) and electric cars, specifically Tesla (where TeslaMotorsClub is dominating). If you check both of those, they have regional forums - both of them including Hong Kong specifically. Hong Kong might just have shy of 10 million people, but it's a concentrated international hub of shipping, flying and ... there are also quite a lot of electric cars (though many more needed!). On PPRuNe, the local forum is called Fragrant Harbour, while TMC is just ... Hong Kong.

I don't think you should make a forum just for us. Make a set of local forums. Even for the USA, there could be separate forums for the hotspots like Florida, North East coast, West coast, inland lake areas. Then for Europe, add UK, Scandinavia, Central Europe, France, Mediterrainean. Middle East, Hong Kong / Macau (not much in Macau I think, and close to HK so could be OK to include it?).

It would be OK to just have threads within Hong Kong for maintenance, license, and those other issues - as long as we can keep them inside a Hong Kong forum.

If money is involved, I am sure at least some of us would agree to chip in (myself, member since 2012)

"Thank you soon" as my 4-year old says when he is expecting a "yes"

Hi Janet

Yes, our plans are not to reproduce the information that is already shared in the main forum but to focus on local topics

For now and without advertising we are about 25 people already, I am convinced that once created many more would participate
What is the actual process to request a regional section?

Cheers
Andres

Re: Localized regional forums

A regional space for Hong Kong and Macau is would be great! We don’t have this else where and definitely come up against mainly local issues where access to an online community would be valuable.

Is there even a remote chance of having regional sub-forums?

I am sure we can find volunteers to help moderate the forums if you wish. If no-one else stick their hand up, I will do it (but prefer someone with more spare time would volunteer).

As mentioned before, I used aviation and Tesla electric cars as an example.

As for this very specialised brand-specific forums, take a look at the regional forums:

https://teslamotorsclub.com/tmc/cate...-community.85/

And likewise, for aviation, where "Fragrant Harbour" = Hong Kong:

https://www.pprune.org/pprune-worldwide-8/

Those two forums are dominating in their respective area for world wide exchange of information. How about CF ?
