How to edit a post

I have done searches, and looked in the FAQ, but cannot seem to find out how to edit my posts.

The FAQ says:

"To edit or delete your posts, click the Edit/Delete Message button by the post you want to edit. "

But none of my posts displays this button. Actually, THIS POST is the only one where I can see the edit button! I search on my older posts, any of them, and it does not display the button.

I am registered and logged in. I have a laptop with Windows 10.

Please let me know what it takes to see this mysterious button.

Thank you,

BS'er

You can edit your post, but only for a fairly limited time after initially posting. After that it is fixed in time and space, unless you piss off the CF powers-that-be.

And that time period = 30 minutes.

And after the 30 minutes time out, the OP can report his own post using the Report Post button (the red triangle thingy in the lower left) and ask a Moderator to make the intended edit.

The Moderator will assess the request and make a decision whether to edit the post or not as the Moderator sees fit.

Re: How to edit a post

Hi, Bullshooter,

Probably the easiest is as Wotname wrote, to report it and write what you would like it to say. Then, when a mod gets to it, the change can be made.

There is another option, which is to report the post and explain, and request the moderator to re-open the edit function for the post. The moderator will then open the button for what they think is long enough for you to do it, and then come back and close it. I've only been asked to do that once.

The first way is quickest for you to get the desired text change.
