How to close my account?
I would like to close my account, but I couldn't figure out how.
Best regards.

Re: How to close my account?
Dear Mods,
There appears to be no close account button in the settings page. I would greatly appreaciate it if you close my account when you see this post. Thank you, and have a lovely day.
Respectfully.

Re: How to close my account?
Are you wanting the account to be non-functional or do you want all your content deleted?

Re: How to close my account?
Hello, Full,
There is a Contact Us button at the bottom of every page. Click on that and a writing window will appear. Write your request in there and send the message. It goes to an administration queue, and where the request will be processed when it comes to the top of the stack.

Re: How to close my account?
Interesting question: can an account be deleted such that all posts made by that person are deleted too? Might make some confusing reading on old threads.

Perhaps you could simply do as others have done when they choose to cease playing, simply pack up and go away. Simple and effective.

Actually it is a bit like Hotel California.
Relax. The forum is programmed to receive.
You can check out anytime you like,
but you can never leave.
Or maybe you would prefer the ditty from the Sound of Music
So it's time for you to go
we want to say goodbye
and bid you all farewell.
Adiós, farewell, Auf Wiedersehen, goodnight
Best wishes, bon voyage.

Yep, your previous postings are now part of the public record.
Nothing stopping you from just not coming back.

It's a fair question. If someone isn't planning to post any longer on a social media platform, leaving their account active just leaves them exposed to someone hacking it.

Re: How to close my account?
Most forum tools don't allow accounts to fully disappear in the sense that all content is removed. The reason is that this would mangle all threads that the user has posted into. That's not really fair for all the other users.
Nothing stops a user from ceasing to participate. And I think you can remove most personal info from your account, but I suspect it would require manual effort from the Admin to fully remove all record of an account.

Accounts can be disabled in various ways (contact support) but the posts associated with the account remain as removing them disrupts ongoing discussions.

And if someone has quoted their posts,, the name and content remain, it appears.

I know you're joking around here Davy, but that's a good illustration of the reality. As the Mods often tell us, it takes a fair bit of effort to deal with people who won't play by the rules. They end up having to manually remove or edit posts. It takes a lot of person-hours of work, and results in a cascade of problems when other posters are quoting the original posts that are now being removed.
It's a bit like a house of cards; you start tugging on one card and pretty soon the whole house falls apart.
