Large Home Depot ads covering up content and impossible to move or dismiss

Just like the title says. Firefox on Windows 10. New problem. Other ads stay in the sidebar.

Re: Large Home Depot ads covering up content and impossible to move or dismiss

These ads finally forced me to download an adblocker. Iím using AdBlock Pro on an iPad running Safari. Seems to work so far.
If you open the ad, scroll and then close the ad, it does seem to disappear but of course thatís a pain in the a&#.

Same issue. Seems to be an aspect ratio mistake. It's a horizontal ad that should fit vertically in the space to the right of the forum.

This is a problem with CF design that should force ads to be at a certain location and size. Looks like this one was able to find a back door...

Hi, any reason for not using the CF app on your tablet? No ads there at all.
Just curious.

I notified the CF geeks. I haven’t seen the Home Depot add today. IPAD tablet.

If they had anything to do with the fix, Thanks.

Great Mike.

I donít mind the scroll of krud down the side margin. I donít think I should have to perpetually buy new software to keep aggressive advertisers from taking total command of my pad. I also donít have space on itís tiny drive for anti-junk junk. I did march into Home Depot to try to talk to a human because their on line site and phone tree precludes anyone from reaching them. We are in a home remodel right now. Switched to Menards and Loweís. I canít imagine the hubris expecting add tactics like this to entice me to buy.

Canít close it. Canít minimize it. If you navigate away itís waiting for you when you return.

As I noted above, I havenít seen them today. Fingers crossed.

Re: Large Home Depot ads covering up content and impossible to move or dismiss

All the apps I've mentioned are free. And they take up minimal HD space.

I wish I didn't have to run all these ad and snooper blockers as well, but that's the world we live in. The whole economic model, from Google and Facebook, to the lowly CF here, operates on delivering eyeballs (or clicks) to advertisers. They won't change because you complain. They'll only change if the ads stop being effective. That's what these tools do.

Re: Large Home Depot ads covering up content and impossible to move or dismiss

oh no! its back. google chrome, no add blocker. just popped up. i'm starting to think the forum devs want it this way and its working as intended. the new adverts on my android are consistently there and started at the same time. none of them are home depot adds. basically makes browsing the forum on an android a no go. will try the CF app to see if it makes a difference.

The Tapatalk app? I had trouble with it on other forums and just gave up on using it. Canít remember what the problems were, just that they were annoying.
