Absolutely not the case. It is ONLY Home Depot.

You caught me. I didn't actually test the theory. My wife doesn't allow me to troll porn sites.

Ed
Ed, you are a BAD man!

Made me laugh twice this morning....

AND I NEEDED TO LAUGH BECAUSE OF THE %^&*( HOME DEPOT ADDS!!!!!

Yeah, I am still seeing the ads this morning on Windows 10 with Firefox. Pretty sure I saw the ad last night with Windows 10 and Chrome. It does not appear to be a OS or browser issue.

Later,
Dan

Interesting... Are you also blocking the snoopers and trackers? I use Ghostery and Badger. I've never seen anything as described on my Macbook Pro running AdBlock as well.

Ghostery is currently blocking four background trackers that CF uses. Most of them are Google-based. If they can't track you, they can't plaster these ads in front of you. I don't see anything like this anywhere on the Web.

Here's another data point. I usually view CF in the Version #1 skin. I find it loads faster than the default Version #2. When I switch just now to #2 I see adblock is now blocking 9 ads and Ghostery is stopping 5 snoopers. In version #1 there were only 3 ads and 4 snoopers.

As a suggestion, try switching to version #1. You do that using the drop-down menu in the very bottom left.

P.S. Now CF is not letting me switch back to Version #1... what a PITA.

PPS. I had to delete CF cookies and then relog in to get back to Version #1.

It’s not just Home Depot. Other ads do the same, for sure reducing my interest in shopping with them.

Re: Home Depot Banners Blocking View of Site

CF site administrators should take care of this. Not sure why it is unsolved for many weeks. It isn’t the fault of the advertisers (which personally, I do not care about - being totally blind to popups and banners) but of the website settings.

That "free" access you have to "Site" and to the various internet browsers, wouldn't exist with out the ads. Producing a website and hosting internet access isn't "free".

If you think you have it bad, try controlling it in our business environment.

Re: Home Depot Banners Blocking View of Site

I think the point here is that ads should be properly displayed. This is a problem with whomever is supplying the HD ad or this forum administration. Certainly not the fault of the viewers and I am sure no one here is saying get rid of all ads. Just make them behave!!

Happy to learn that I am not the only CFer who has this problem. I have stopped shopping at Home Depot because of this - I now use Lowes and Ace Hardware.

I hope you have also stopped using anything Google. Those are the ones who are really responsible for you seeing the ad ... that and CF of course who allow it.

BOYCOTT HOME DEPOT!

I get this issue only with them, on a laptop with Windows 10/Google Chrome.

If HD can't or won't get their ad geeks to fix it, they should lose market share until they find a way. Ads for many companies are always seen, but not taking up anywhere near this amount of screen space. It is ridiculous. See ya later Home Depot!
