Group subscriptions?

I've been looking for some way to get notifications of postings for social groups, but I seem unable to find such a thing. Is there a way to receive e-mail notifications when people post to a group? Without that it seems very hard to get a conversation going...

Yes, I find the groups rather useless without notification. Maybe a group with some traffic might be ok to check on a regular basis but low traffic groups don't work (IMHO) without notification.

Yes, I agree. It makes for very disjointed conversations.

You can subscribe to an individual thread, or a whole forum (like women afloat).

When subscribed you will get an email, or user CP notification depending on how you have set up you preferences.

To subscribe to a forum use forum tools.

Under the forum tools there is an option to subscribe to the group .... I did see that but I interpreted that as 'become a member of the group' and since I already am a member there seems to be no point.
I will try that and see what happens .... thanks!
