I have a Raymarine
. The Chartplotter
outputs NMEA0183 at 4800 and it has worked reliably for years to transfer data to a Standard Horizon radio
that can display GPS
This weekend I added a serial
cable to connect the GPS data to my notebook. I then use a serial
to USB adapter, because my notebook does not have a serial input. I created a new connection in OpenCPN
and ran the NMEA
debugger. Nothing. I disconnected the USB cable and reconnected it and the data flowed and I got a fix. But after about a minute, the data stopped. If I disconnect and reconnect the USB cable, the data flows again, but stops after about a minute.
At the same time, the Standard Horizon radio
continued to receive GPS data without interruption.
Any idea of the problem and how to fix it?
