I have a
Garmin GPSmap 7410 and a Northstar NS3300
autopilot with an MCU600 main controller. I have managed to get the two to exchange messages via
NMEA 0183, but apparently the GPSmap 7410 does not submit the messages the Northstar
autopilot expects in order for it to recognise the messages as the bearing setpoint. The
Garmin has this information available in the display (it's called bearing) and it continuously shows the correct bearing the autopilot should be set at, but the autopilot is not receiving the message it expects for this setting. The autopilot is receiving some messages though, because I can select the
GPS navigation option, but when I try to enable it, the autopilot says it's not receiving
GPS navigation information. Do I need som kind of translation
equipment for this to
work? The Garmin has a
NMEA 2000 interface available, but I'm not sure that sends the messages the Northstar expects, even if I use that instead. Any guidance towards the correct converter would be appreciated.
