First Unread Button

Looking for a workaround or maybe a software mod - not sure.

I normally navigate to the list of threads - click the thread I want to read and then click "View First Unread", which jumps me to the first posting that I have not read.

That works fine. However I'd like to save a click. I noticed that there is also a small icon that takes you to the last post in a thread. Unfortunately the last post in a thread is usually not "the last unread" post in a thread.

Can this icon - on the thread listing be replaceed with an icon to go to "first unread."

Just wondering and sorry if this post is confusing. Picture attached....

Interesting comment. What browser are you running? When I open a thread that has new posts that I haven't read, the post automatically loads to the first unread post. I never use the button.

I use IE 6.0 and 7.0 depending on the machine.

I have searched the User CP and options and can't see a setting for that.

It would be great if it worked like yours and unfortunately changin browers is not an option.

On the first image you posted, the thread you circled looks like one you have already read all posts. In that same image, look down two lines to the thread "How to Edit your Posts". The button to the LEFT of the thread title is the "First Unread" button. Sends you straight to it.

Doh! I don't know how I have been missing that button all this time. I thought I had seen something in the past but must have been lost in a gin cloud.

Thanks!

Dan, they just added that button. (Janet, don't correct me. Some delusions are good.)

But, Janet, while we're talking, now all we need is a button for "First unread post that isn't drivel" Why don't you get right on that? You do that while I finish perfecting my do.it.anyway script. It's almost done...

Hmm... you already have one of those. It's a firmware addition - looks like this: l/O
