Oooooooh. Not nice.

I have selected in my User CP to disable the popup. And I clear ALL my personal data when exiting ALL WEBSITES. What I'd like to know is although my User CP is set to disable the popup, why does it still popup whenever I log in? Is my choice stored with the obnoxious cookies I remove at my discretion?

If so, that's not very useful.

Will you tell us how many people actually sign up for the news in proportion to the number who suffer the nuisance every time they visit this site?

Finally, I don't choose to use the app because I don't trust any website who offers them to respect my privacy. My view is there's more reason their offered than simplifying or enhancing user experience with them. I expect they're coded to super collect my private data. Consequently, on my tablet I have to endure an annoying dance between my keypad when it comes up and the silly popup that also rises such that the kill button is hidden behind the browser window. So, I've got to scroll it down in order to kill it.

An over and over pain in the ....

What pop up box, what pop up box? I've never seen it and I'm sure I've opened the site more times than you have.

Who's really the slow one

You're really, really very fortunate!

Since you have no issue with the annoying popup, then you can comfortably ignore this thread.

Re: DO SOMETHING!!

Adblock and Ghostery removes all the Internet's advertising and tracking irritations. I see no popups, no ads, just stuff I want to see.

That problem was taken care of quite a while ago. This is a very entertaining and informative site, it's much better than just good. I log on almost every day and I enjoy it tremendously. chile1

Said the guy who has posted 68 times in 5 years... Apparently you've got nothing to contribute but criticism.

Re: DO SOMETHING!!

Actually, this is a legitimate complaint and I'm surprised it hasn't been removed by now. The pop up occurs when you open CF, before you log in. Ad block won't stop it and checking the box in the User CP has no effect because it occurs before log in. It obviously doesn't happen to everyone and probably only happens to those who choose not to allow cookies. I've resigned myself to living with it because in the grand scheme of things, it is a minor irritant.

Re: DO SOMETHING!!

I've got none of the fancy adblock software and never have a problem with pop ups or ads. In fact the only problem I have had on this site is when I get a bit un PC for some people and get a wee posting holiday

Yes, my assessment is that it's very likely related to deleting cookies. Some of us have issues with on-line banking because of that, too. (The usual symptom is having to go through an extra verification step en route to logging in).

NoTies, I'd bet you don't delete cookies after you close your browser. (There a setting do to that automatically.)

BTW, the site you reference shows 15 active snoopers and background trackers running on it. Oh the painful irony ... or maybe it's the perfect trap

Remember, it isn't paranoia if they really are out to get you
