Everytime my new Toshiba laptop updates my Laptop goes from v2.0 back to v1.0
Anyone know how I fix this?

Re: Cruser forum V 2.0

Just a guess but try changing to v2, log out and log back in. See if that helps. Also click "Remember Me" when you log in next time.

I suppose you are running Win8.1? Are you using the App or the browser? I only have experience with the browser portal.

Re: Cruser forum V 2.0

BTW, I got a update from my IT son yesterday. There is a virus going around that forces your OS to accept a earlier version of programs, so that it can get your passwords etc....
Windows, as of yesterday, was providing a patch to eliminate that weakness. Just heads up.

Re: Cruser forum V 2.0

When I get updates from Windows, the CF reverts back to 1.0.

Re: Cruser forum V 2.0

This is 8.1 for me. I'll see if it does it after the next update. It's done it twice already.

Yeah I hate 8. Put it on my laptop and have constant problems with it. All others are back to 7.

Re: Cruser forum V 2.0

I thought I read somewhere that when 10 comes out, 8 users will be given a free 10 update. That speaks volumes for the misgivings of 8. Oh how I yearn for the days if Windows 95, 98 and XP.

Re: Cruser forum V 2.0

Yes, not only 8 users but 7 users as well have a year to get a free update. I wouldn't rush it though. I am testing the Technical Preview 10 now and they have a while to go yet before its ready for prime time. Of course that is the idea of the Preview. I just saw that a new release has somehow been leaked so looks like update time tomorrow or Tues. Win 7 had a big update earlier in the week so I guess it was because of that virus.

Re: Cruser forum V 2.0

Is 10 released? Because how could I have a year if it's not available? Or is it from a the time when it will be released? My main gripe with 8 is I cannot find anything. Where my pictures are stored, no favorite drop down menu and the list goes on.

Re: Cruser forum V 2.0

10 is not released. Right now there is only the Technical Preview which you have to sign up for and unless you like playing with changing, pre-beta software I wouldn't recommend it and neither does MS. They also state that you should not use the Tech. Preview for production machines and to keep system backed up at all times even though there is no supplied back up system (so you have to buy one). Also MS has certain rights to information and can download that information when they desire.

I have found that some of my Apps will not run although all downloaded software, ie: Firefox, Google Earth, Open Office, etc. all seems to work. There is rumored to be a new release soon as one was leaked early.

Part of the MS announcement was that Windows 10 will be a free upgrade for Windows 7 and 8.1 users.

Re: Cruser forum V 2.0

As far as 8.1 goes you can store your pictures wherever you want. If you use, for instance, Kindle reader App they do a pretty good job of hiding the books but the information to find them is on the web. The only problem is that they are non-intuitive file names.

I use 8.1 pretty much the same as I use Win 7 although I do use some Apps.

Oh, the user interface on Win 10 is in flux and is, IMHO, even less intuitive than 8.1. I hope that is fixed before release. I'm looking forward to see what changes have been made in the new release of Tech. Preview.
