Agree 100% on the Brave Browser. Free, and available for desktop and mobile.

Since I've I logged into CF just now, it's blocked 19 ads and tracking cookies. It's Chrome-based, so it's faster than Safari on a Mac.

I'd also toss in a recommendation for Duck Duck Go as a search engine. No tracking and no Google-esque selling of your browsing and search data.

I agree that there are too many pop ups and ads.

Opera Browser has a function under privacy settings that blocks all ads.

Me to, I use Firefox on Linux, windows and android machines and only see adds in the side bar and header so easy to ignore. I agree you may have software problems on your machine.

Re: Contributing to CF has become unbearable

I almost always use the web based version on my iPad or iPhone. Never any pop up ads and do not recall ever blocking any. Knocking on wood in case I’ve now jinxed myself. 🤔

Re: Contributing to CF has become unbearable

I downloaded brave browser in my iPhone and it’s a miracle, all ads gone...wow

To those who recommended DuckDuckGo why can’t I use it as a browser as well as search engine? Why do I need both?

Sorry I am not tech savvy

Vanilla iPad with no ad blockers. I see no ads on CF.

Re: Contributing to CF has become unbearable

Mostly access CF on my iPad using Safari, have never done anything to avoid ads, have never had any problems with ads.

I noticed ads coming up when I open CF from an email (e.g. when notified of a private message) but never if I open automatically in Safari using the username and password stored on the iPad.

Yes, Brave is a good option for a browser that doesn't allow ads or tracking. I use it, but find it sometimes doesn't play well with all websites. Great option though.

DuckDuckGo is not a browser. It's a search engine. It replaces Google.

So use Brave instead of Safari or Chrome, and use DuckDuck instead of Google or Bing.

That was my understanding too, Mike, but take a look at the following screenshot, I am viewing CF in DuckDuckGo.

Yes there is an Android app. It's in the Google Play Store, free and works great.

No adds whatsoever.

Still, we should remember, Cruisersforum is free, not at least due to ads.

I'm also using a standard Firefox installation on a PC and there are no pop ups (I'm in Europe, might be an issue overseas).

amen!

Apart from the ads, most people don't understand the interaction between tracking and search engines like Google and how the combination essentially creates an echo chamber constantly reinforcing one point of view and not showing you results that might challenge that point of view. Partly responsible for the polarization of political thought and the crazy conspiracy theories like qanon etc running rampant.

I take it back Knotical. You're correct. DuckDuck makes a browser for mobile devices. I was wrong -- my bad. So yes, you can use it directly.

Too bad they don't offer a browser for computers. I'd definitely give it a try. I've been using DuckDuck for many years now as my primary search tool. It's great.

I see no ads, run no blocker, use standard Firefox, on PC (Win 10).
