Any Members not US based?
I've been taking a look at where all the new members are currently located. As of now, it looks like all are US based except for Line, Gisle of course and Popeye. Is there a EU based sailing website to link to this site to lure more people from other countries? Or is it because we in the US spend too much time surfing the net!

It's Popeyes fault ...
This site is only three days old and we haven't started announcing it yet. But Popeye told me he posted a couple of messages on an American board telling the World about us.
Well, that's good for a startup test, but I really wanted to test the site more first. Now it's become clear that the server I've been using has a terrible downtime (especially last night), so I'm moving www.cruisersforum.com to a very reliable American host called INFINOLOGY ( www.infinology.com ) where I've bought a package with 9GB storage room and unlimited traffic.
So, after transferring the site (hopefully today) we will be ready for a lot more members

Non US based
We are based in Gladstone, Queensland, Australia. Commonly called the Curtis Coast. Pop 45000, Gladstone sits on a natural harbour & is about the busiest port in Aust. Nearest access to the Great Barrier Reef is approx 25 NM, there are several reef anchorages within 50 NM. Our Marina is host to cruisers from all over the world inc. US. Local yacht club is Port Curtis Sailing Club which hosts the anual Brisbane to Gladstone race attracting world class racers. Happy to give further info if anyone interested. Regards, Setia

I'm based in the Netherlands. That's quite European I should think.
Problem with Europe is, of course, that there are so many languages. Problem with US is that the universal use of English is being taken for granted. It is not, you see. I happen to have a gift for languages, and so I am quite able to not just speak but also write in English. For many non-British Europeans this is not the case.
My favourite cruising/sailing website is the site of the British sailing magazines. Try here to have a look.

Sverige/Sweden
Hi!
I am based in Europe/Sweden. I don't remember how I stumbled over this terrific site, but I do like it!
In Sweden we have our own forum for boaters, one for sailors and one for those who prefer motorboats. Note: they are in swedish only.

We´re based in Costa Verde, Brazil
HI!!
I am a retired ship´s deck officer class II from Norway now living permanently in the seaside town of Ubatuba (Tupi indian language for "many canoes")
Having spent two winters here in between my charter operation in South Norway on my beloved m.s. Eight Bells, a 60´alu. motor yacht built in Germany, I finally took the plunge and moved here in May 2003 where we bought a lovely house.
I re-married to a lovely lady from Sao Paulo in Kristiansand Norway in 2002 whom I had a year earliet "met" on the internet. Miracles it seems are still happening all over the world...
I am a web-designer and run my own web site http://yachtmarine.com where I offer consultancy in the areas of real-estate, travel and boat building in Brazil.
You can also see sailing directions I have written in http://www.noonsite.com/countries for the Costa Verde area in Brazil and also the "Norwegian Intra Coastal Waterway" from Kristiansand, Norway.
I have travelled extensively around the world both as a ship´s officer and also during 30 years in the London travel industry.
If I can be of any assistance please feel free to ask. But in any case, let´s share a beer or two when you are visiting these parts.
WELCOME TO PARADISE!!

Just a crazy canuck - in a mexican sweater
My name is Jim - and the good ship Zephyra is awaiting me in San Carlos, Sonora. Heading south after the big winds die down - November - going slow as the world rushes by at 4 knots, any faster and the centrifugal force would blow the sock off the wind vane. Having a ball - learning to live life over - I post a log when on the water and if anyone wants to live vicariously thru our adventures drop me a note and I will put you in the address book.
Occassionally looking for extra crew for those "interesting" passages. Have my eye on a full time 1st mate - sorry but that position is filled until she says, " no more, I vant to be alone" - or was that a swedish voice I heard just now.
So large a world and so little time.... Take care all, may our wakes cross one day soon. Jim

Another Aussie
Hi all,
I'm a new member and another Aussie (to join my fellow Aussies from Gladstone).
Just retired (early) and goin' cruzin' for the rest of my life on my 50ft cutter rigged yawl. New places and some old ones, new friends and some old ones, more beautiful sunsets (sorry, can't get the old ones to come back, no matter how hard I try).
Looking for crew to join me on Great Barrier Reef and Pacific Islands cruise and diving starting from Sydney in January 2005. After that a circumnavigation is a distinct possibility. Drop me a line if you are interested in joining me.

Currently: Puerto La Cruz, Venezuela
Makai and her crew will call Puerto La Cruz, Venezuela home for another month. We will then be moving on towards Trinadad and the windwards. We will return to Bonaire for huricane season this summer.
Makai is a US flagged boat.
