An idea - a "Missing Yachts" sub forum?

Maybe under the News forum?, don't get a lot - but would keep 'em together and perhaps mean that folks simply curious might find out they know something - even if well after the event. Plus anyone worried could read other threads to see how things turned out / get an idea for themselves of the uncertainties that are normal.

CF could even become a bit of a "go to" place for missing yachts - infotainment

Any thoughts?

Thoughts?
At this time of the morning?

Yes, its a good idea David.

Then we can easily keep an idea of how many are missing at a time or year...

Sounds like a damn good idea. With the amount of Caribbean related abandonments, a number of which seem to float by here (Bermuda), they often make our daily press. I have friends at Harbour Radio, who are usually co-operative in giving out non-contentious info.

I am guessing from the silence that the answer is...........no....or in CF speak: "under consideration".

Its an excellent idea.

At least then we can easily find threads. Plus it will be a record of sinkings etc.

Keep up the pressure!

Re: An idea - a "Missing Yachts" sub forum?

I'm all for it as long as we can discuss what type of anchor the vessel had and whether there were any weapons onboard...

Not at all, I will raise it as a discussion point. No promises though so "wait out" for the moment.

Good idea, David!

Add my vote for creating that forum.

And re that just plain contentious comment concerning anchors -

Well, any serious blue water sailor knows it isn't important what kind of anchor a vessel carries...

so long as the fridge keeps the beer cold.

Re: An idea - a "Missing Yachts" sub forum?

Given that a no goer by CF (fair enuf - Forum not the ideal tool to simply keep a track of events) I set up the following:

The Lost Yachts Register

At some point it will likely get own URL (WWW name) - but until then will be my CF homepage (my sig links are kinda full!).

How much use that is being another thing ......more I think of passing interest on numbers, location and boat types..............You will note that it has been written to require minimal updating by me .....with a link off to the "story", at present mostly to CF!....that layout might change in due course, or it might not.

Of interest to anyone? If so, don't be shy about giving me a pointer or a nudge towards a missing Yacht......although not said on the Website, this will be mostly about yachts going on extended / transocean passages and not lost / missing locally.
