Ads covering content

I mostly lurk here, but like to check in and learn from the vast knowledge base. However lately after a few minutes on the forum I start getting Ads popping up over the recent discussions section on the right hand side. I'm only interested in using the recent posts section for navigating the forum, but when the ad pops up, I try closing it, but it is replaced by another. I'm not an IT expert but this only happens to me on CF, I don't think it is an issue on my end, but find it hard to believe that CF would allow ads to cover content. when this happens, usually after several minutes of browsing, I just leave. Problem with my PC or problem with CF ads?

Same thing happens to me. Clicking the Cruisers Forum logo at the top of the page refreshes the page and temporarily eliminates the blocking ad.

Recent problem with CF.

Annoying as hell.

They're like mini-movies in pop-up boxes, obscuring content - and take about 3 tries to x-out of them and close the blasted things!
Arrgh.

I know that Mike O'Reilly and Jim and Ann Cate use Adblockers successfully, which I may have to look into finally. This latest iteration of ads is REALLY intrusive (*and* in addition to the ones already popping up along the bottom of the content).

Just ridiculous.

This problem rears it's ugly head every now and then. It hangs around for a few hours and occasionally a day or more before disappearing. I have assumed it is a site programming ad error and when the backroom coders notice it, they fix it.

Whatever is the root cause, it is very very annoying.

Has been OK for me for a few days now but last week it was a problem.

Re: Ads covering content

I've gotten to the point that I just log out and come back another day. It has greatly reduced the amount of time I spend on the forum. Seems counter productive to me.

Yup ... Adblock is your friend. Easily installed on all browsers. You can program it to block what you want, and keep what you like. Makes the whole Internet far more palatable. I never see any ads that I don't want to. Certainly none of this intrusive stuff.
