Vikings Bring Mice to the New World

Recent genetic studies have revealed that the Vikings brought house mice aboard their ships to Greenland and Iceland. The mice were traced through their DNA to Norway and the northern British Isles. To date, no genetic evidence has been uncovered showing this link to Newfoundland which has a population of mice dating to the arrival of English ships in the 15th Century. If they were present at L'Anse Aux Meadows, it would be unlikely they survived without the established settlement. The interesting article follows: The Viking Journey of Mice and Men - International Science Timesviking-journey-mice-men.htm
