Boatyard Suggestions for Jacksonville, FL

I need suggestions for good, but reasonably priced boatyards in Jacksonville Florida. Needs to have a Travel Lift that will fit a 38-foot monohull. Has to allow DIY work. Needs to be close to West Marine and Home Depot. Any suggestions? Duration should be one month. I'm not from around those parts, so anything will help.

Sadler Bay Marina on the Ortega River allows DIY and also has a full service yard. Next door is a Sailor's Exchange consignment store. A WM is an easy walk, as is a great used book store, a grocery store and restaurants. Home Depot is a few miles.

The only other DIY yard that I am aware of is is farther south on the St. Johns River in Green Cove Springs. I don't believe there is a WM or Home Depot very close to that one.

Hi Ceal,

Green Cover Springs on the St Johns is about 35 miles up stream from the ICW. It's a great place for DIY and probably the best deal in the area.

BUT, it is a small town and at least 20 miles to the nearest West Marine or any other boat store. The marina can order supplies for you and they get a pretty good deal with their port supply discount.

Hey hey! I don't know how famous...maybe infamous? LOL. We brought the whole dang fleet here. Yes, I said fleet. Need to blog about the +2 IPs that we recently acquired. We're keeping the little IP that could for ourselves. Know anyone who'd like an incredible deal on another IP27 that has less than 300 hours on the engine? This one's a full keel.

Really liking Green Cove Springs Boatyard. Great people - never seen so many people actually getting things done and launched in a boatyard in my life.

We've been here for a week, and I really like this yard. Lots of hardworking DIYers getting things done and boats launched quickly. The price is right - $0.40 per foot per day for the work area and $4/foot per month for storage. I like that this place seems to be a good "hurricane hole." Thanks for the info you provided. Yes, West Marine, Home Depot, Harbor Freight Tools are a bit of a drive, but it's nice to use the air conditioning in the car in the afternoon and get out of the yard for a bit.

Depending on which way life takes me I am really considering heading to Green Cove Springs. South Florida is getting stupidly expensive.
