It's a sad story, guys; two powerboats collided a little after dark on a July night near Magnuson Park on Lake Washington. One beached at Magnuson with injuries, the other one chose to make the run to the UW stadium dock to try to take their injured to the UW emergency room a few blocks away. A 14-year-old girl, I presume on this boat, didn't make it.

I don't actually know if drinking was involved, though it is in 80% of the marine accidents around here. This is one reason I'm glad I live in a '7 knots / no wake' zone.

Dang... I wonder what the other boat looked like? Pity about the girl.

Re: Speed kills

I think that many powerboaters never understand the difference between driving an automobile and piloting a boat.

From what I have seen...many sailboaters as well. I would not consider one group particularly safer than the other.
