The claw could use a couple of small holes to accept a seizing wire, or small wire tie-wrap.

I have this same item and use it regularly. I seize the pins on the two shackles, but nothing else. Are you suggesting seizing the chain hook to the chain? This would defeat the purpose of the ease in engaging and releasing the chain hook. I do not deploy this item as pictured, but leave a approx. 6 foot loop of chain hanging weighted and loose between the hook and my anchor roller with no chance of the chain jumping out of this slot. When releasing I can simply retrieve the chain on my windlass gypsy and the hook drops free.

I do not know where it's made. but mine is stamped ABI.
