I would like to add if it is GRP, lapstrake in fiberglass is difficult to build, so it might be indicative of the building care and quality.

Yes lots of indications of a quality build to this noob, like the look of her too.

It looks quite wide for its size, good interior space, carrying capacity and form stability, less roll and more comfort, but probably not too good for righting after capsizing.
It probably wouldn't matter as much as I doubt there are much people taking a 22 footer offshore anyway.

Well I want to maybe one day, and my 8.5' beam limit means the Cape Dory 28 is too big, but 27 and 25D are on the list

Flicka 20 is just too cramped to live on full time, but very seaworthy!

Nor'sea 27 currently top choice but will mean saving a few more years.

I would suggest Contessa, Marieholm or other Folkboat derivatives.
If you don't mind taking care of wood, there are some build of Eric Jr designed by Atkins available, if you are building there are probably more choices.
There are larger and mire seaworthy boats that aren't much more expensive though.

Thanks, and yes, those are already on my longer list.

Headroom and carrying capacity are important, Contessa 26 is I think a bit too small for me and apparently very wet in the cockpit.

Yes but as I said, I don't want larger, even if free, 8.5' beam is my upper limit.

I just mentioned the others for points of comparison,

really hoping someone knows more about this boat, would be a long trip for me to go look at her, and the current owner apparently knows little.

Search for Atkin Eric Jr at yacht world.

On the other hand, I have commisioned a "minimal" fastnet offshore capable design that is absolutely seaworthy, with most of the benefit of the size and not much negative. I have yet to build it, if you can find someone to build or build it yourself.

Sounds way above my pay grade.

This $10K starting platform is actually more than I should be investing in my dream at this point.

Unless I see a "miracle bargain".

Fact that it comes already on a trailer is a big plus, otherwise that bit's really my next goal.
