My 2 Dollar DIY Composting Head

Here are a couple pictures of the completion head I made last month the only part I had to purchase is the funnel that is my urine diverter. I used a square bucket that laundry soap comes in along with common gallon milk jugs as urine collectors.

Good job! Only one addition I'd make for that bare wooden seat (steal one from your wife to remain properly cheap)

Get your own tweezers! But I agree, tweezers would be needed.

Newhaul, I like your head. You did a good job. But, think of the ladies!

OK I don't have a picture of it with a proper wood seat. I will be using the one off of the marine head that it is replacing. All of the materials are salvaged off of a demo job I did last spring. The plywood is mahogany 1/4 inch with 1/2 x1 inch sticks in the corners. I used the mockup dimensions for the Boon Jon to get the basic dimensions.

The tweezers came included with my MacGyver kit when I was a wee lad. ( swiss army knife when I was many decades younger)

This won't work very well without a way to stir it.

Actually it will work great just start with about 2 inches of peat (or whatever meadium you wish to use) in the bottom and add a hand full after each use to cover the deposit.

Steal a toilet seat someplace. splinters in the ass might be uncomfortable. Then again many outhouses had a seat like that but they don't pitch. I don't know about the ladies? Good job!

Nice job. The very best seat material, especially in Northern climes, is cut out of a piece of red or blue styrofoam. Easy to shape, and instantly warm to the cheeks . You can paint it if you wish. Glenn

First I'm a navy vet so no stranger to pitching deck while doing my bussiness I'm thinking grab handles to keep my cheeks in place
Actually I am going to use the seat off of the marine head this replaces.
Lastly this makes my lil 24 an acceptable live aboard in most of the marinas in my area. ( They have a 15 gallon holding tank requirement per person unless a composting head is installed

OK people I have to admit I didn't pay $2 bucks for the funnel it was on sale at Kmart for 49¢
But two bucks sounds better. Lol
