Re: Hunter Cherubini 33 Trade

This is the link I intended to post. The guy changed his straight transom to a sugar scoop. Pretty much covers the repairs I need to do, except his boat wasnt in the water. Here is the linkhttp://www.thebigsailboatproject.com/pro9.htm.

Re: Hunter Cherubini 33 Trade

Here is an update. Been working on the hull and just about ready for glass. Even hung the swim ladder for fun. This will be a great boat. Sides of hull are 3 layers A grade quarter inch. Transom is 2 layers of 3/8. Repaired roller furling, new halyards and the new hull id plate will be stamped brass.

[emoji106] Thanks for the update and that looks really good.

I can't believe the boat is still in the water, I imagine you get some funny looks from passersby. Are you going to haul out to lay up the glass?

Re: Hunter Cherubini 33 Trade

No haulout yet for this boat. The nearest yard is 80 miles by water. Better to lay the glass up here than risk being swamped at sea. When I do get to the yard I am gonna need a big barrel of gelcoat. Boat is currently named Mona Lisa. Gonna change it to something like that mythical bird Phoenix that rose from the ashes or how about Kiss My Stern? Just kidding about the stern. Side here needs a little more glass. Just ran out of resin.

Wow she has come along beautifully. Sounds like it will be a great boat when your done. I'm getting ready for some glass work of my own on bringing an old classic back to life. But certainly nothing that aggressive.

Nice work!

Good work Capt'n. You've done her proud and showed us the labor of your love.

Come up with a new name for the lady yet?

Re: Hunter Cherubini 33 Trade

No name yet but I am thinking on it. Names I don't want: Orca... Dont want my boat eaten by a giant shark, Poseiden... Dont want to be sunk by a giant wave, Titanic... Nuff said there, or even like 2 boats in my marina called its 5 oclock somewhere. No, I am still thinking on it but open to suggestions. My last saliboat was named ShelleySea, after my wife. This boat is being reborn and deserves a name worthy of its rebirth or even its regeneration. Perhaps it could be named Regenerate.

Re: Hunter Cherubini 33 Trade

I liked the "Phoenix" idea, seems like you're still on that tack.

Our new/old boat had a silly name that needed to go. Still working in removing all traces of it from the hill so Posieden can remove the name from his ledger.

Here is a name for you. Encantado is the name for a shape shifting dolphin from the mythology of the Amazon river in South America.

Re: Hunter Cherubini 33 Trade

Capt. Ahab, congratulations. I have had one of these boats since 1982, although mine is currently laid up in a yard, looking for someone who would like a nice project. I lived on her and cruised her for eighteen years, and made lots of great modifications. She was a perfect single or double handed cruiser. If you would like to think about some of the mods, just PM me. I would love to see your boat come back and get great use. There used to be, and probably still is, a great Hunter Owner's Website. I posted on there with stuff on the 33 many, many times. Kind of like now with the Leopard 45.

Great work and best of luck!
