Replacing Floor in Hunter Cherubini 37C

Hello,
I am considering the purchase of a 1980 Cherubini Hunter 37C. Some of the flooring in the galley and salon is spongy. Therefore, I'd like to replace the flooring in that section of the boat. Anybody ever done this? what's under there? how difficult of a job is it? Advice on the best place to purchase materials?

First off: great boat!

Never had to replace mine, but it was nothing unusual. Teak & holly veneer over ply and then wood framing to hold it all in place. The galley floor panles had some irregular shapes, but nothing a competent marine carpenter couldn't handle easily.

I did extensive work and upgrades to my 37 Cutter. I've documented a lot here:

I didn't have to replace my floors, but I did cut them open to gain some storage. It's teak and holly on a glass/plywood structure. You may have teak/holly ply delaminating, but if it's more than that it's real serious. I doubt it, though. It's pretty thick, heavy glass on 3/4 ply. Even if the ply fell apart, I think the glass would still be solid.

there are some places to worry about, though. Read through what I have posted on the above website, and if you have questions I'll try to recall what I can. I regret selling ours, we moved on to a bigger boat, but we'd cruised in it and I knew every little part of it. Can't say the same for the next boat.

There has been a lot of discussion about this recently and many (many many) good options available to you to solve your spongy floor problem.

Certainly nothing that should prevent you from moving forward with the purchase.

I'd still want to know why it's soft and if there is water damage, how extensive it is
