Small boat (Beneteau First 18) from Gibraltar to the Canaries?

I am considering a trailarable boat for lake and some Mediterranean coastal cruising. Any idea that this size (e.g. a Beneteau First 18 ) could make a Gibraltar to Canaries passage?

Any legal hiccups? I suppose I have to register the boat under the flag of a "liberal" jurisdiction too, beyond technical questions.

The B18 is a dinghy with a lid on it and not suitable for a 5-6 day crossing in a busy waterway.

There are a lot of more suitable yachts you could choose for this journey.

I'd choose something other than a Bene 18.. have taken 21 and 22ftrs across the Biscay non stop from the UK but they were sturdier boats.. 4' 6" headroom and storage space.

Thanks, started to realize that. Unfortunately I can't go for a real ocean-going 45'-er, because I work in the middle of the continent (lots of nice lakes!) and limited to a self-launch trailerable solution.

However, "trailerable" has some more room once I get the BE license, I am eyeing the First 235 and First Class 8 now. Neither are ocean-crossers but both are definitely more than the First 18.

I know, the swing-keel is also not the best solution, but the FC8 with that 1.8m swing might not be that bad.
