steering mystery in a 30' o/i

Hi everyone, I have a Morgan Out Islander 30'..... project...of course.
Some jerk stole the steering pedestal and cables from the boat before I purchased it and the previous owner stuck some crappy tiller setup in it.. I purchased a Edson pedestal from e-bay thinking it would be an easy fix/install.. WRONG .. I cant understand how it works. The quadrant was left in the boat and some aluminum bar up against the firewall with one sheave mounted under it on starboard. Would someone PLEASE post a pic. of the layout or the cable setup or something!! Drawing a sketch, ANYTHING!!
Curtis, north of New Orleans Louisiana
I could post my phone # if someone want's to text me pics.

Thank you again !!
Now can someone tell me how to make the damn boat back up
to where I want it to go and not where it chooses to go !!!!

The out Island 30 Is my favorite boat. It handles well. if you treat it gently. When you want to back up you give it full throttle for just a second and that first thrust will start it going backwards. But you must immediately slack off on the throttle or it will paddle itself into a turn. as soon as you let up on the throttle it will straighten out and be steerable, but will be moving slowly, but who needs to go backwards fast. the long straight keel will keep it fairly straight.
