Gulf of Mexico cruising part 2

I'm going a different direction. I believe going with a sailboat is going to be a better trip than being chained within 150 miles of a gas station.

It looks likes with a 68 ft mast, the Okeechobee channel is right out with 55 ft fixed bridges, so is the intercoastal from Pensacola to Panama city.

IT also looks like my only option for Lake Pontchartrain is to go up Chef Menteur pass.

Lake St Catherine, and Rigolets bridges being too short.

it does open up the offshore, as now I can go far out without range worry.

Who else sails the gulf, and what are your experiences?
