Sailing in Hampton Roads, VA
So I have relocated from Milford, CT to Hampton Roads, VA. I see a good number of boats down here but can't find a good source for sailing communities. I was active crew on a J100 (Bowman) and J44 (Bowman -trimmer) out of Milford and Glen Cove, NY and I would love to find a boat down here to crew on, Week day sailing and some weekend sailing would be perfect. I owned a Cal 22 until about a month ago, sold it as I didn't want to ship it down. If you know of an active club here I would love to hear about them.

Awesome, I will have to get in contact with them. What marina do most of the "racers" leave from in little creek? I have found a good way to get started is just to go down and simply ask if anyone needs a body.

HYC is a good source if you are on that side of the water.
Broad Bay Sailing Assoc. sponsors Wed. nite racing out of Little Creek and Thurs. nite out of Willoughby Bay, as well as numerous weekend races and a full cruising program.
Go to "broadbaysailing.org" to find contact info for the race organizers, crewing, etc.

You see boats heading out after 5 pm to race during the season from most of the docks/marinas on Little Creek:
Bay Point Marina
Little Creek Marina
East Beach Marina
Vining's
Probably a few from the base marina also
The Hampton Yacht Club though appears to be where most of the serious racers hang out and they have quite the turn out at times which I can sometimes observe while cruising across the bay

Kmartind, I am looking for crew for Luna Blu for this season. She is a 1966 Bristol 39 Yawl moored at Old Point Comfort Yacht Club at Fort Monroe. I'd be happy to have you onboard.
Cheers, Keith

I'm a retired liveaboard in Willoughby Harbor Marina and am always looking for someone to sail with me. Neither of us have enough posts to contact through the Forum directly, so contact me at Dave7073 at hotmail dotcom if interested.

DaveKdot, I'll be arriving in Willoughby Bay towards the end of April. Mind if I send you an e-mail with some questions?
