Please, if you own one or have owned one in the past - I'd really appreciate if you'd say "hi".

Re: Call to all ALBERG owners

I am in the process of researching and making an offer on 1967 37' Alberg sloop. It's an old boat and I am not sure if it worth time and money, but I love classic shape of it even though it limits it's internal space by very much

Re: Call to all ALBERG owners

Hi there,

I have an Alberg 35, built 1965, still going strong. At some point a PO repowered with a Yanmar 3gm30 and someone built a beautiful chart table. A PO also covered the cockpit seats in teak slats. Other than that she's pretty standard I believe except the v berth was replaced with a single berth on the starboard; I hope at some point to put the full width v berth back in.

Great boats!

Sasuliy ~ I owned a 1967 Alberg 30 for quite a number of years. Bought it new and have quite a bit of experience with the design. If you have anything specific or would just like to ask some questions, you can email me at cjsfam@yahoo.com and I will be glad to respond.

Re: Call to all ALBERG owners

Greetings, go to the Alberg 30 Owners Assn group. Excellent source.
Having owned an A30 for many years, I can tell you that in 69-70 Whitby changed to a liner type construction process. Prior to that stick built.
Main areas of concern are the mast support beams. Over time the glues failed, allowing the laminated deck support beam to sag. If your forward cabin door won't close or is missing, then this is probably the case. The association site has detailed the repair and sourced aluminum repair plates. Washington Aluminum in Baltimore I think)
Also check forward lower shroud chainplates. There have been problems with undersized bolts-easy fix. The A30 is a cousin to Albergs CD 30, although it has iron ballast and is slightly narrower. Opening ports were an option.
All in all a great boat with an amazing record.

Re: Call to all ALBERG owners

Hello Sashuliy, Welcome aboard your Alberg 35!

I have a 1966 Ericson built version. She was a sad old lady when I bought her, looking very nice now towards the end of an extensive refit. Would be happy to answer questions you might have. Email me at peterharris@phstol.com or communicate through CF.
She gets comments like this from a passing commercial fishing boat skipper "I'm a fisherman, not into sailboats, but that is a beautiful boat!"

Good luck,

Peter

Re: Call to all ALBERG owners

saved one from sinking nine years ago, been the sweetest, and cheapest mistress i ever had or could dream of having. the chainplates definitely Need to be checked for bolt size, beam that supports mast is another area that needs to be monitered for give. I replaced mine with oak beam, will be glad to send photos if you like. IF THE halyard that raises the mast gets jamed, there is a design that allowes you to simply turn the pully 180 degrees and problem solved.I have spent many nights and months with her. I love her, she is GREAT!!!!!! PM ME IF ??????

I have a '67 Alberg 30 also. I am still fixing her up, so I don't know everything. I did rebuild the mast beam though, thats definitely something you want to check.
