Bali Papua Solomon Vanuatu Fiji trip

Ahoy, I am looking for some girls to help me sail from Bali to Fiji
I can buy plane tickets and pay wages. The trip is from Bali to Fiji and we will be sailing past the worlds most diverse coral and marine life regions! I am a coral researcher, and surfer, and I have sailed from Hawaii to Bali and I want to sail back to Fiji! The sailboat is completely rebuilt and very nice. New sails and motor, water maker and autopilot. Rubber foam yoga deck. Jetski on stern!
Let's go sailing!

Re: Bali Papua Solomon Vanuatu Fiji trip

Hey girls, hope that you like upwind sailing! That's not an easy passage, especially in a sort of vessel not known for windward performance. The fact that he made the downwind voyage from Hawaii to Bali has little bearing upon the return trip.

Before you sign on, you might want to chat with an experienced cruiser about that route.

None of my business, of course, but I hate to see neophytes get sucked into something they don't understand.

Cheers,

Jim

PS The requirement that you send photos is a bit disturbing as well...

We have a new motor, plus there are airports along the way.
Why so skeptical, the boat sails fine to weather motor sailing north of Papua is calm!

Disturbing for what?
Why can't I change some ladies lives?
Why do I have to listen to drunk men on the boat?
Why can't I have a female crew?
Maybe il end up with a beutiful child after the trip?

To Pearlhunter's potential women crew:

Consider his post #7. What does it tell you about his character? If you think it's all about him, then remember that the skipper will have life and death responsibility for you. Don't ask yourselves what's possible (like how good it might possibly be); ask what's likely given your knowledge of men.

Be aware that he could keep a dry ship. Lots of cruisers don't drink at sea. So his statement about drunk male crew is a clanker. Alcoholic skippers can make crews' lives miserable. Not saying Pearlhunter has a drinking problem, but this is the internet, and we don't really know here how much of what people write is true. Sometimes ugly truths hide behind attempts at humor.

By the way yoga mat decks are not what one generally finds on a boat's decks. Usually there is some form of non-skid. If it is true, his vessel may not be well equipped; if it is not, then he's not a truth teller. Just sayin'

One of the most dangerous things a skipper can do is take on unknown crew, and one of the most dangerous things a crew can do is take on an unknown skipper. Have seen some very bad things happen over the years.

I think that pretty much covers it, no?

I'd ask for fingerprints, STD test and a background check, at least.

Re: Bali Papua Solomon Vanuatu Fiji trip

First off, I run a coral research boat In Kauai!

I have much experience sailing the Hawaiian islands,
Actually I swam from Maui to Molokai and also Maui to lanai.
Why I don't want to sail to South Africa is because sailing around the world watching coral die and drinking champagne is not my thing.
I am seriously inquiring about a crew of girls that want to come with me and sail
This boat, which I have spent 10 years sailing. To take it to Fiji,
I surf and dive and would like some experienced sailors that want to come,
And this sort of trip can be done easily, and will be an experience of a lifetime.
I could pay for tickets expenses, and even wages filming corals in Papua!
And if I fall In love and have a kid, my kid will laugh at you.
Isn't tha why we sail.

I am well capable of meeting women,
It is more difficult funding women who can sail!!!!
So, if you want to come sailing, and I like you,
Let me know.
Otherwise mind your own business!!

Re: Bali Papua Solomon Vanuatu Fiji trip

"When choosing to crew or to take crew with you, consider it the same as taking a stranger as a roommate far from home with no return ticket or money to buy one. "

This is advice from another thread, not written by me. Pearlhunter may be a fine upstanding fellow, but his advertising makes me feel distrustful, for all the reasons stated above...

For the newbies: skippers often hold your passport once you're aboard. How then can you escape at the next port of call?
