My "New" Searunner 37

Hello All,

I've been searching for a trimaran for over a year now. That wasn't going well so I figured I would build a Marples CC35. Well, the local building inspector nixed my building shed so I restarted the search.

Since I didn't have much money I focused on Searunner 31's. I wasn't having much luck there. I looked at them in California and Connecticut. I also looked at Scrimshaw. Nothing jumped out at me. Then I found the ad for the Searunner 37 at the right price.

I looked at the boat last week and made an offer that the seller accepted. I now have a Searunner 37. It seems solid, the engine looks good, the sails are acceptable. It is not pretty though and needs much cosmetic work. That's to be expected for the price I paid.

I plan to deliver it to RI from FL late April or early May. Does anyone want to make the trip?

I made a Shutterfly site to show pictures of the boat. The url is buildingmytrimaran dot shutterfly dot com I will probably be asking for lots of help over the next year, or more.

For now,
John B.

John B. Congratulations, It is always a trip to finally decide and commit to a boat after all the looking and learning.

You may already know this, but the Searunner thread located here:

http://www.cruisersforum.com/forums/...-14322-65.html

It has reached "Epic" proportions and is inhabited by some very knowledgeable guys. Ask away, we all been there, done that, in one form or another!

Congrats, John! I also dream of a Searunner somewhere in my future, so I follow the ads somewhat (though my purchase is probably a few more years away at least . . . kids gotta go to college first).

Did you buy the one in FL that was a 1987 build, $12,000, "appraised value $24,000"? I notice that ad has been deleted.

Lots of Seaarunners for sale in San Carlos Son. Mexico!
I just talked to a guy today in the work yard who wants to sell his 40', he has not listed it yet. Also at least 2 are listed for sale (37's)

I never seen the like of all the Searunners for sale, all in one place. I am also slowly, sorta, selling mine!

All in San Carlos, great place to visit even if you don't stay!

I ogle those Searunners in Mexico all the time on yachtworld, especially as the weather gets colder up here. It starts to make perfect sense to go buy one, work on it for a while, then set out to bring her home either via the Canal or . . . westabout.

Of course, the Searunner with the Dynex Dux rigging is the coolest.

Re: My "New" Searunner 37

The guy I bought my 34' Searunner from used to put it in the water in Oct. and sail the Sea of Cortez, then haul out in May and go home to Utah and work. Is a 5 hour drive to Tucson from here.... It is pretty easy if you have your own trailer....:-)

Hello All Again,

I'm looking for more information on my boat and am hoping someone may be familiar with it. There was no sail number on the main, just an ad for Royal Caribbean Charters (something like that, some of it was missing). The boat originally may have been a light green. It was built in 1987. Pics are at buildingmytrimaran.shutterfly.com I contacted John Marples and Jim Brown but without a sail number they can't help. Does anyone know the boat?

Thanks,
John B.

John,

If it was a USCG documented vessel you may be able to check online by USCG Official Number or name:

Office of Science and Technology

Congratulations and good luck.

Marshall

Marshall,

Thanks for the quick reply, but, the only history/numbers I have is what I posted. It makes the hunt hard.

Thanks,
John B.

Did you click the link to continue on? It is a two step process from the forum. The links work for me.
