crew boarding date ± September 1
± 2750 nm, allow for 4 weeks in total

We are looking for a first mate and 1 crew to assist professional delivery skipper on this delivery from Florida via Bermuda to Horta.
First mate USCG Limited Master with sail endorsement or RYA YM Offshore. Deckhand YM Coastal or USCG Limited Master of above + experience. Skipper (YM Ocean) has over 25 Atlantic crossings and ± 400.000 nm under his belt.

All onboard expenses paid for.
Crew travel paid for (within reason)
No per diem.

With equal qualifications/ experience we select on crew travel costs.

Being the height of hurricane season, it's going to be interesting trying to pick a weather window. It's getting active out there.

Yep you are right. One of our skippers just arrived in Jacksonville and hurricane Erika is not far behind. But with a possible weather stop in Bermuda it's not far between where they have access to good GRIB files /forecasts. More important all our skippers have a tracker so in our office we can see where they are and send weather info and routing advise to their sat phone.

Oh, and this skip has over 400.000 nm under his belt and still uses a Sony world receiver (about USD 150,-) and records the forecasts, uses SSB and is teaching the first mate how to use a sextant for his final Ocean exam. But he's oldskool :-)

And just as a reminder for all that think the other season is safe, be aware of the deep strong low's in the N winter. They can be as bad but your don't see them coming like hurricanes that originate in Africa. Beste months for less experienced sailors are April, May and June.
