Willard 30 / 35 8-Ton World Cruiser

I am selling my Willard for 38K. These past 4 years have seen a lot of improvements. If you search on this forum, you can see various projects and issues that I have dealt with. Here are some of the more major refits that have been done.

2011:
1. New hatches, butterfly main cabin and regular forward hatch.
2. New bottom paint: Two coats and three coats on the waterline

2010:
1. Complete new rigging
2. Mast removed sanded and painted, new VHF mount and antenna, TV antenna, power coated spars with new boots, sheaves replaced, new stuff on mast, and mast rewired with new electrical and coax cables.
3. New Lewmar ST winches (46 and 48), and new Lewmar ST for mainsheet. All lines now led aft.
4. All new strings.
5. New traveler (slight arc) by Garhauer with all blocks replaced
6. New interior cushions
7. New and decent faucets in kitchen and bath.
8. Upgraded interior and exterior speakers and added amplifier to system
9. Oversized LCD 44inch (maybe 40 -- cannot recall) monitor for awesomeness movie viewing with oversized wall mount.
10. New sailcovers (teak color)
11. Bimini
12. Raymarine Autopilot

2009:
New sails. Jenny 120, Staysail, and Main sail partially battened.

2008:
1. Electrical totally rewired, 120 and 12v
2. Chartplotter

Icom R75, Icom 718, Icom 504 with remote handheld thingy, weather satellite receiving system with quadrafilar antenna,

She has an anchoring system (electric nilsson windlass) with 200 feet triple 0 b chain. Not steel from China.)

There are other odds and ends, BBQ, spare filters and what not, and I can supply more information if requested. But the above is the bulk of the big ticket items. She is currently lonely in San Diego. Showings and sailings by appt.

Thanks, Michael

You've done an incredible amount of impressive work on her over these past few years, Michael. I'm sorry to see that you've decided to put her on the market.

Re: Willard 30 / 35 8 Ton World Cruiser

Hi Tao

I surely miss my boat now! But I am not sure how long I will be here in Afghanistan, nor I do know where I will work when I return to the States. I am thinking though that I want to move up to a 40/45 footer for my liveaboard. Been thinking of getting a Panda 40 or a Liberty or maybe something from the 1940s and working on that. I am thinking when I get back to sail to Mexico and hang out in Puerto Vallarta for a while. I will have 4-6 months to relax with after this deployment.

But that is why I am selling the boat -- interested in something larger. And if she does not sell, she is in near perefect shape for when I get back! The hatches were done just two weeks prior to leaving country -- so I only got one sail out to the Coronados with them in action!

Re: Willard 30 / 35 8 Ton World Cruiser

All good wishes to you and the men of the Corps, Michael, in this deployment.

Your Willard's gorgeous and ready to provide years of happy sailing to the next lucky owner. It's a shame you're facing such a soft market, currently. For the astute mariner, though, I think her virtues will be quickly recognized and she'll find a good home.

I like the sound of moving her down to PV and using her there, though. If she doesn't sell, maybe you could put together a syndicate to own and keep her down there. Of course, that hardly satisfies your plans to liveaboard, but I'd look seriously at buyng a piece of such a syndication if you go that route.
