Offshore training BAHAMAS to Beaufront SC

aboard Crown Royal a Beneteau 510

Planned departure mid December 2016 I have 20 Atlantic crossings from USA to BVI. Willing to train and share my experience with others. This will be a SAILING Exercise, we will have a list of trainings, practices ei stearing without rudder, dead reckoning no instruments, celestial sites..... I am working on getting my training, teaching skills up to get ASA offshore instructor qualified.. It will be also fun in the Sun. Need to set date of departure for best of crew schedule.



Student, professional looking to better skills, everyone will do everything they want to There are many high tech systems aboard, AIS, sat phone with modem, wifi extender, we will also have Chis Parker weather advising along with many nav, routing, charting programs. With 4 + cabins we will have plenty of room.

This is a preliminary agenda. (Date may be changed due to weather or crew request) You are invited to partake there is a $799 USD cost and food aboard will be included. If this site charges more (handling or shipping) don't worry it will be adjusted. It should be about a 5 day passage, Plan a North Atlantic passage. Plot Route, including waypoints, and use gulf street data, Chris Parker weather routing get weather by SSB and Sat Phone for this trip. Predict wind program Learn to read pilot charts Take sextant sights Location of safety gear first aid preparations including crew training, contents of the kit(s) and reference materials. Submit a passage plan and a brief discussion of how it would be filed, with whom and how it would be used if necessary. spot Epirb 14300 ship track Blog and FB entries AIS Radar Describe the contents of your abandon ship bag as well as the bag itself. Discuss where it will be located and how it is to be secured. Describe crew briefing on emergency procedures. Include a meal plan for four people for seven days without refrigeration. Prepare a passage plan for the cruise which will qualify a candidate for ASA Offshore Passagemaking certification. Include charts and other important information. Briefly describe and discuss your chosen watch keeping system. Also, include an alternative if one or more crew members becomes unable to assist. Describe a man overboard trailing line with alarm. While on a passage document the following information. Chart and keep current with DR and coastal and celestial fixes not more than 12 hours apart. Include sun sights, as well as other visible bodies used for fixes and running fixes. Log sheets should be kept which document each candidate’s participation in activities necessary to shipboard life. Included among these should be navigation, (coastal and celestial) helming, maintenance, galley work, etc. Perform the following drills. Steer vessel without the aid of a rudder for a period of 2 hours performing course alterations greater than 20 degrees on at least two occasions. Maintain the new course for a minimum of 30 minutes. Simulate a dismasting by lowering sails. Jury rig a sail which occupies only that area of the foretriangle below the spreaders (the portion of the rig which was salvageable and able to be secured to carry sail). Halyards run through masthead sheaves are unusable. Carry on under these conditions for at least two hours and clearly indicate the necessary adjustments in navigation. Discontinue DR for a minimum of 4 hours. Determine position resume DR. Calibrate compass for current heading. Establish, describe and log a method for checking available electronic devices. Pre passage inspection Jack lines All turnbuckles pinned and taped Hand holds Hatch closing rules Storm sails Safety gear per carib 1500 req'd’ Discuss and locate alternate ports Reefing and when Night changes This is not a final list, tasks may be added or removed.

Appreciate your post.

Please do not use Atlantic crossings in the context of US to BVI. You decry all us skippers that actually cross the pond to Europe or the other way, etc in the North Atlantic or those that cross the South Atlantic.

Is the boat insured, equipped and inspected for charter and is the operator licensed for carrying passengers for hire offshore?
