Source of food grade air hose for hookah setup

I'm looking for 50' of not-kill-me grade air hose for a hookah setup. I've scoured the internet and everybody says it's easy to get, yet the dive shop wants $300 for 50', and hookamax won't sell me a hose unless I buy one of their crappy complete systems, and

I found a sweet compressor for the boat, quiet, 1HP, low power start, the Rolair JC10.

Any tips?

Duh ebay... I've been scouring every other site. Although I hate buying anything on ebay... they burned me for $150 worth of solar power cabling a while back, but what really turned me off is they suppressed my feedback, so I no longer trust it.

Anyhow, thanks, I got some ordered. Got what I needed and saved $240 over the hookamax price.

For anyone else who might also be looking for some hose, and who doesn't want to buy it on e-bay, here is one source...

The black is very flexible unlike Brownies hose.

No, please don't. The hose at Home Depot is not the same as hose that is specifically intended for breathing air. The hose at Home Depot can out-gas toxins that you DO NOT want to be breathing!

Is there anything wrong with using Polyester reinforced PVC tubing, 1/2" is about 35 cents a foot and its food grade?

As to the electric compressor the OP linked, can anyone tell me how these commercial airless compressors would work for a hooka set-up? I am assuming a final filter would be employed but is the air still clean enough for diving use? They sure are cheaper than what the diving companies are selling.

Thomas 1207PK80 is what the pros use. Also found in high-end commercially available hookahs. Can be had new for less than $500-

Re: Source of food grade air hose for hookah setup

So here's an update:
1) My rolair JC10 arrived jacked up, but it looks like I'll be able to swap it out locally, the company responded to my email I sent over the weekend first thing this morning. Very pleased so far with their response.
2) The regulator I purchased has a 1/8" fitting on the end with an o-ring on it. I tried putting a 1/8" to 1/4" NPT fitting on there so I could connect it to my hose, but it appears to be some kind of special scuba fitting. Does anybody know how I adapt this thing to work with my hose?

Buy a short whip that will go between the reg and your air hose.

H2O Rhino Double Braided Regulator Hose HO20 with reviews at scuba.com

Then find an 1/8" coupler to attach the other end of the whip to your air hose (I use an 1/8" tee to run a fill whip when I dive in a drysuit.)

Re: Source of food grade air hose for hookah setup

Attached is a pic of what I have. It sounds like it's just a regular 1/8" NPT fitting? It seemed like the threads didn't quite match to me and the guy at the marine hardware store. Maybe I just did a bad job of sealing the threads. I didn't test it underwater, but I had a serious leak somewhere and assumed that was it.
