Help with sourcing a new rudder bearing.

It's for Namaste, a Peterson 35. Knowing nothing about what type and size, if anyone has that information it would be very helpful. It would save a lot of time and money to have what I need prior to a haul out.

Sure wish I knew where Doug Peterson is now...

Thanks in advance, cruisers.

Re: Help with sourcing a new rudder bearing.

Um, I think that Doug Peterson just recently died, sadly. Though he may still have an "office", who handles things for him/his clients. And tracking down the spec's on the original rudder shouldn't be too tough. Especially given that you have the original one right there. Which, after taking some measurements, talk to a few of the usual companies that make such bearing assemblies. As well as perhaps considering a custom solution, once you know the details about the current bearing.

Re: Help with sourcing a new rudder bearing.

Thanks, Uncivilized,

You are right. We have lost an American legend. Doug Peterson died June 26th. Very sad learning that, so the best thing I can think of doing is to keep Namaste in the best condition possible. She's an exceptional boat, deserving of all the attention necessary to keep her sailing.

Your replies are always appreciated, Uncivilized. Sail on...
