Travel journey fron Australia to France

Hello the community !

This is my second post after the one related to the prep of my boat.

You will find it here

I'm now starting to think about the possible cruising routes and timing of the journey...

My goal is effectively to travel slowly from Australia to France.

It seems that I have 3 main options.

Option1, go east crossing the pacific. It is apparently difficult according to the prevailing wind. Without considering that it is a quite big step for a first long journey.
> I doesn't look to be the best choice.

Option2, navigate west, going through south east asia, india, aden golf, suez canal and mediteranean sea..
> This would be my prefered approach. But what about the piracy in the Aden golf? Is it still current these days ?

Option 3, Same as option 2, but instead of going through the suez canal, go around Africa.
> This is a quite long journey. And i'm a bit concerns about the weather near the good hope cape.

Which are the option the "easiest" in your opinion?

Also, my understanding of the cyclone season is that
- From October to April is cyclone season for north part of Australia and south east asia
- From April to december is cyclone season for Indian Ocean

I don't want to be under pressure to arrive in one spot because of the cyclone season that is arriving. The idea for me is to take time. If the cyclone season is approaching, I'm thinking about hauling the boat out and put it on the hard for the time of the season, and enjoy the place where I am visiting the country..

I would be happy to have your comments on this. Is it what people usually do ? Or does most of the cruisers leave the location during the typhoon season ?

See if you can get hold of a copy of World Cruising Routes by Jimmy Cornell. You might also try to get hold of a copy of the Pilot Charts, which illustrate the wind directions and strengths for each of the oceans. The ones put out by the US, being in bound form, are the handiest.

Option 3 is the only real option for your boat... Torres Strait, Cape of Good Hope, St Helena etc, Med...

Worked for Slocum and, 60 years later, Trekka

They didn't have to lay up for cyclones etc..

Google 'em

Personally I would get the boat round to Onslow on the NW corner of Oz.. lay up there till April then make a straight run for Rodreguis and Mauritus some 3000nm to the West..
If you keep just around 020S historically the winds will be a steady E to SE for the trip with favourable currents between 15 to 40nm per day...
This may be a longer trip than you are comfortable with but many do similar in crossing from the Americas to the West.
Whatever you choose..
Safe passage..
