Yes, it's a very well protected area because of drug interdiction activity by both the Colombian Coast Guard, and also the U.S. Coast Guard. That's the last place you'd see pirates thriving.

Seeing as how I'm gonna be anchored there next week, I think I'll be leaving the gun locker open at night with the hatches closed and 80lb dog outside....

A Canadian retired police officer was knifed there a few years ago.
Stay in well patroled areas. Do not isolated yourself.

Yes in the Rosario archipelago. This couple from Québec city was savagely attaqued by 6 pirates. The mas was a retired police officer. The couple complained the police and authorities did not lift the little finger to help them or search for the culprits.
Blaming the victim is the most frequent way of discharging themselves used by Suramericano Police.
