Recommend Annapolis Sailboat Yard?

I'm purchasing a sail boat in Annapolis and will need to have it hauled for inspection, short term storage and then decommission boat and place it on trailer for trip home. Can anyone recommend a yard that will treat me fairly?
Thanks.

Eastport Yacht Center. Great spot, and great service.

Cheers.

Sparrows Point is a fare ways away.

Silver, you could check ActiveCaptain for ideas, especially if "where in Annapolis" might turn into an issue. Bert Jabins, Eastport Yacht Center, Port Annapolis are all on Back Creek. There are also a few places on the South River (Holiday Point, Liberty), and maybe others that just haven't come to mind yet.

Might be your boat is already at one of those places? Or very nearby? If so, might be easiest to just do the haul there, since they all may be about equal...

Re: Recommend Annapolis Sailboat Yard?

It'd help to know a few things:
How big a boat?
More exactly where it is now?
Can you move it, or does it need to come out asap?
How tight is your budget? (example: Port Annapolis has it all but is expensive)
How long for storage?
What work on it do you want to do before the move? Some won't allow owner exterior work, especially with bottom paint.

Personally, I would not use the South river marinas to ready a boat for transport. Jabins or Port Annapolis. They deal with new boats and racing sleds all the time. Ask the broker too.

Second the recommendation for John White of Whitehall Marina. Nicely sheltered, plenty of depth getting in. He’s a pretty fair guy. Small friendly boatyard.

I had really good experience with Berth Jabins, careful operator, multiple service on site, clean site, hard to beat.

Re: Recommend Annapolis Sailboat Yard?

I've used most of the yards here in and near Annapolis. In town I recommend Bert Jabins Yacht Yard. Ask for Joanna when you call and tell her Dave on Auspicious sent you. Eastport Yacht Center will be a bit less expensive, good service, less flexible, and a tough job for the truck to get in and out of Eastport. Port Annapolis is good but may end up being more expensive than Jabins. You can make Pier 7 or Liberty on the South River work but I've found working with them awkward. YMMV. Herrington Harbour North in Deale MD is outstanding. Good access and great service. About three hours from Tolly Point. More expensive to get to BWI if you fly home; no big deal if you have a car. I'd add in Hartge Yacht Yard in Galesville as an option. Really good service. Tell them I sent you. The yards I've used off the Patapsco have always turned out more work than necessary.

Again, if you are organizing remotely and will have limited time in town--especially if you won't be here for load out--I recommend Jabins.

Let me know if I can help. You can always buy me a drink at Davis' Pub. *grin*
