Morgan 40 Cruising Ketch Main Mast Step

Hello all, I am new to this site. I am re-doing a 1971 Morgan 40, Cruising Ketch in hopes of spending a year or so aboard when I retire in a year or two. I want to step the main mast to replace lights with LED lights, replace all wiring and the antennae, put a wind indicator on and possibly paint (the aluminum is dark and ugly). Do any of you know if I can simply pull the mast straight up or if it is bolted or pinned to the step? I can't see or access the step without removing my fuel tank which has about 70 - 80 gallons of diesel in it! Oh I forgot, also to replace stays and chain plates.

Welcome aboard Carl! I do not know for sure about the mast on the Morgan but I suspect that, like mine, it sits over a shoe and, unless it is corroded to it, will lift straight off. In any event I hope someone with a Morgan 40 will chime in here with firsthand experience with it! Good luck!
