Kemah Texas - Galveston Area - Eating Holes

We will be in Kemah, Texas this week and looking for "your" special "hole in the wall" or just great places for food and drink. Thanks

I recommend the Classic Cafe in Seabrook. It's on the North side of Clearlake.

We like Tequila Mia's Mexican Cuisine Restaurant & Live Music

& Skipper's Cafe which has exceptionally attentive service. Both in Kemah not far from where we dock.

Re: Kemah Texas - Galveston area

It's been a while since I lived there, and Ike may have taken out all these places:

T-Bone Tom's was pretty good, so was Joe Lee's, Skipper's was the morning greasy spoon. South Shore Beer Garden was decent.

I'll second Gilhooley's and Topwater well worth the drive to San Leon. Topwater used to have THE best fish tacos, and Gilhooley's had awesome grilled oysters

Re: Kemah Texas - Galveston area

Thanks for the info. When we bought our boat (docked at Waterford) we stayed on the boardwalk at the Boardwalk Hotel. There are so many nice chain restaurants located on the boardwalk, but really looking for a family owned or local restaurant. There is the SunSet Grill located at Waterford. Likes or dislikes? Thanks. Joy

Just watched a video on T-Bone Tom's and it looked so good. Will differently try their Armadillo Eggs. They were pickled and stuffed with brisket, then fried. Thanks everyone for the info.

Sunset Grill II at Waterford Marina is good. We also really like Tookies in Seabrook; reopened a few months ago after repairing damage from Ike.

Hoagie Ranch - outstanding food, but check the hours of operation before you go.

Here is skinny on the restaurant scene.
Outriggers under the Hwy 146 has great seafood (casual, old school Seabrook, across from Kemah) (love shrimp tacos- frequent) on the water, can bring the boat or dinghy (but be careful of the current-speak from experience) to the restaurant, bloody marys are a meal (w/ shrimp)
Alan's Swampshack (good, cajun style) near the water,
Skippers (greek food, great breakfast, one of our favorite waitress is there, be early for breakfast), have not tried the Brickhouse yet.
Joe Lee's (South Shore Beer Garden is gone, but they serve their burgers, good)
Sundance II is at Waterford (Hans is the owner, and does fabulous german dishes too, drinks are good too)
Boondoogles is one of our favorites (take the dinghy across Clear Lake north side- low clearance bridge, brick oven pizza, great beer)
Turtle Club (casual bar) floating on the north side near Classic Cafe, can tie your boat there with power,

Farther away but on the bay: Noah's in Bacliff is old biker bar-casual, outdoor patio, good breakfast buffet, bitchy waitress sometimes,
Topwater Grill in San Leon (great seafood, outdoor tables are available)

Fancy: Opus (on the southside Clear Lake canals, can get there by dinghy)
Look for the free Scene publication, to find lots of info on the restaurant and bar scene.
