Vancouver Anchorage????

I will be going to Vancouver to pick up a friend for a short trip. My plan is to arrive in the evening and stay overnight on the hook, pick up my friend in the am and go sailing. I am looking for a reliable anchorage, near Vancouver (False Creek is good) where she can leave her car for a few days and I can get a dinghy in for a pick-up. We will be heading SW to Gulf Islands and she lives in Richmond if that makes a difference.
Any recommendations are appreciated.

I haven't done it yet but you need a permit to anchor overnight in False Creek (FREE!)

Parking on Granville Island shows as $15/day and there is a dinghy dock.

Rather than leaving a car downtown, I'd suggest your friend take the skytrain from Richmond to the Olympic Village skytrain station. It is a 5 minute walk from there to "Spyglass Dock" dingy dock under the Cambie bridge. You can obtain a (free!) overnight anchoring permit from Heather Civic Marina, which is about 200m from there. If she lives in Richmond, it might be an idea to find a place on one of the 3 arms of the Fraser River and arrange to pick her up in Richmond, Say Steveston, BC, a small settlement I believe on the middle arm of the Fraser River.
She can leave her car there, close to home, and you can pick her up from the fish dock and return her easily.
Findinding anchorage in the downtown Vancouver area is difficult if not impossible and with all the marine traffic and I would be prepared to spend all night up on anchor watch if you do.

Anchor in false creek and she can take the sky train to the science center where you can pick her up. No parking required.

That is an interesting option. What are good anchorages around there? My Waggoner Guide is a little sparse on Fraser River info.
