Nauticat Sailboat Owners

I own a 1981 Nauticat 44' Motor Sailor and am looking to connect and compare notes with other Nauticat owners. Our vessel is currently located in Crisfield, Maryland. Hope to hear from others who own these wonder boats.

Re: Nauticat Sailboat Owners

Hi Michael, I own a Nauticat but a much later 2003 Nauticat 42. These are more a sailing boat but that said, my 140HP yanmar gets good use. My current project is building a fuel polisher for the 700l of diesel i carry, a project complicated with a boat in Greece and me in Australia. For what it's worth, happy to talk Nauticat anytiime, I have lots of small ongoing projects.

Cheers GC

Hi Ded reckoner I'm guessing a PM is "Private Message". I didn't get one, at least I don't think so?

Re: Nauticat Sailboat Owners

Hi Michael and Gavin,
I hope to be a Nauticat owner by June 1, as I am currently under contract for a Nauticat. I would be happy to connect with other Nauticat owners. I have recently joined the U.K. Nauticat association (even though I am in the U.S.), the Nauticat facebook group and the Nauticat yahoo group. There is tons of info on each of these sites. Looking forward to connecting and sharing more!

Hi Gavin,
52. Have any of you had to replace ports or hatches? We have a lot of leaks and are thinking about replacing them. I am all ears if you have any advice.

Thanks,
Meg

WRWakefield on this site has a Nauticat. He also writes one of the best blogspots I have ever seen. Many of the topics you wish to know about will be covered in it. The link is below -

hi Meg

Why don't we go off-line.

I nearly bought a 42 with leaks and did a bit of research on this and I imagine the 52 is similar because it is just a bigger version of the 42. There is a lot of info out there, the UK based association might be able to help also

My email is carole3052@gmail.com

If you happy to go email

Hi, I am in the planning stages for a 2 year or so cruise of the Pacific or, perhaps, the Carib. Atlantic and Med. Have bounced around from mono, to cat to trawler and now motorsailer.

The Nauticat has caught my attention as a possible candidate, and am asking if anyone can give me some background on quality of design, build, outfitting, seaworthiness etc.

Re: Nauticat Sailboat Owners

I am contemplating purchasing a Nauticat 33. I am interested in open water ocean sailing. Are these vessels capable of circumnavigation? Can I do Atlantic crossings? UK to N.A., N.A. to Africa, etc.?

Re: Nauticat Sailboat Owners

I personally know of an owner who single handed a 33' across the Atlantic. So yes, it is possible. Of course everything is in the proper planning and implementation. For sure subscribing to an accurate weather reporting service is advisable.

Re: Nauticat Sailboat Owners

Ahoy there.

Nice to see this thread. Did not notice it before.

We have a 1982 nc52 hull nr 5 called "Jandia"
Always nice to "meet" other nauticat owners.

Also good to see that the Home | Nauticatusa is up now!

Our nc is in Gran Canaria, but we are currently living in Norway.
