First Liveaboard!

Hello, VERY new to sailing and this forum but having been reading posts from the community. I am looking at a
My very first Liveaboard that we’ll taking cruising once settled. Was hoping for some feedback on this option, looking for important things of note that I may have missed. It’ll be a project boat for us.

Boat for sale - Spencer Cutter - 42'

Was also hoping to find the original designs for this but not sure where to start.

We want to refit the interior and possibly add a shower, not sure how doable that is

Re: First Liveaboard!

Welcome aboard Polkafin! Sure is a nice boat for a project boat IMO! Really nice classic. There is a member here named Newhaul who had a Spencer 42 and can give you more info.

be careful with those old teak decks .. they can be a big project sooner or later. and you probably don't need too many projects in addition to the ones you are planning

Re: First Liveaboard!

Greetings and welcome aboard the CF, Polkafin.

I doubt you'll be able to find plans for this vintage boat.
The Spencer 42 was designed in the early 60's by John Brandlmayr, who died in 1974.

Re: First Liveaboard!

Did you wind up buying the S42?

I have hull #7, they are a fantastic boat! IMHO one of the best ever built!

Yes, we did. Needs a bit of work before it can go into the water but we’re hopeful. Do you have any interior photos of your all set up?
