Pacific Synoptic Charts

HI Friends,
What is a good source for synoptic charts of the pacific
available on the internet?
I have friends leaving Banama for French Polynesia
and I would like to send then weather info
Such as developing lows in there path.
They have an InReach so I would have to condense any report
Such as “low developing 100nm on your intended route, suggest you turn
10 to starboard”
Could be fun
Cheers
Neil

Re: Pacific Synoptic Charts

And also..... satellite pics are simply the best way to get early notification of system development....

I get mine direct but you should look for something like this https://www.accuweather.com/en/world/satellite but better.... something just covering your area of interest..... the zoom on that is a bit clunky..

You will need to develop some interpretation skills though....

The US navy used to run a HF weatherfax service out of Guam, don't know if it still exists.

NOAA still transmits wefax from Hawaii http://www.nws.noaa.gov/os/marine/rfax.pdf
which would be of use to the yacht if they had a $100 HF SSB receiver but that isn't what the OP wants to do.... from New Jersey....

Exactly correct, let me restate:
Is there a way to access NOAA transmited
wefax via the internet?
Or is there any other source of Synoptic
charts for the pacific on-line?
2nd question: If i went out and purchased
a Tecsun or Sony HF SSB radio could i
receive the pacific frequencies on the east
coast of the US?
Sitting through the 4th Nor’easter in a month
Going to be good lake sailing this summer
Cheers

Yes, I would say you would have a good chance of getting Pt Reyes..... at certain times of the day.... and that may not be the time of day they are transmitting the charts that you want.

Another small point... as you can see in the one below ... the fax for tropical waters doesn't give a whole lot of info.... the current position of the ITCZ is their best feature.

Where you could be helpful to your friends would be if you could also get the sat pictures off NOAA... they are hidden in there somewhere... and tell them what you see.

The sats will show you the cloud build up with a developing low well before it is picked up and shown on the synopsis..... well thats my experience anyway.
