Need at least one experienced skipper for above voyage. Must have common sense, experience sailing up to a 45ft and speak English.
Pm me with your qualifications and rates if interested.

I think if you are really interested you should follow his instructions. It may go a long way towards getting the job.. (This is said in a friendly tone of voice)

Knowing the time of year your planning the trip would be useful for those of us who have diaries to work to.. that way we know if we may be available for the trip or not..

For me it usually means I've been lazy and used the phone instead of the computer.. much more limited info in the side bar and then not reading the header.. just the posts below..
Rarely under the influence these days.. the pain the next coupla days aint worth the brief pleasure..
Thursday and Friday should give him a good first leg to get past Dover to maybe Brighton.. before the next strong W'lies.

Should read to maybe Dover then on to Brighton.. opt for UK side as more all weather/tide entries for shelter.
Good tidal experience for these waters will be paramount in the winter months.

Re: Need crew for Holland to Portugal for end of December / early January

Doing it S to N in January is one thing but N to S against the prevailing SW winds... I would not want to be responsible for the boat and crew. Plus most of the harbours down the coast of Portugal are likely to be close due to swell so no shelter between N Spain and the Algarve which is 1000miles of lee shore. Why do you have to do it mid winter. Would be much safer to wait until May

Re: Need crew for Holland to Portugal for end of December / early January

I agree with a previous post that you should stick to the UK side down the channel. Otherwise you will be on a lee shore down the Dutch / Belgian coast. I prefer Ijmuiden to Lowestoft as a first hop. But is this wise at this time of year ? I would certainly not even think about crossing Biscay at this point. Take a look at the synoptic chart, not looking great. Also check your insurance. Don't know the Dutch situation but many UK policies do not cover crossing Biscay over the winter period.
