New to sailboating

Just wanted to jump on an say Hi to everyone. I am 55 years young. My wife and I are new to sailing. We have been power boaters for a long time and now wish to explore sail boating. We live near Pittsburgh, Pa and often go to Lake Erie to boat. We love being on the water and meeting boating people of all kinds. So, Thanks for having a place to share thoughts and Ideas.

Re: New to sailboating

Welcome aboard. What type of boat do you have? Im turning 52 on Monday myself. I have no boat as of yet but am hoping that this will be the year I get one. At this point I don't care what size it is. I just want to get on the water and learn to sail.

Well I started with my 16 ft sidewinder and am now buying a beneteau oceanis 440. So I have a steep learning curve here.

Re: New to sailboating

Spend considerable time practising in the waters. choose calm, uncrowded waters, choose a small boat, follow all basic safety measures, research on tide, wind and weather. become familiar with sail control
