Life Raft Delivery Time

How long does it usually take from the time a life raft is ordered until it is shipped? I was informed that it would take a month to ship the life raft that I ordered. It was said that all the "internal items", (flares, water, dry food, etc) must be obtained such that expiration dates don't exceed the date for the life raft to be refurbished (maybe 3 to 5 years). This made sense to me, but now it seems that the 1 month date to shipment is being exceeded. Is this normal/typical? I thought that 1 month should be plenty of time. Any thoughts?

I' m interested in the time from "order placed" until shipment. Thanks for the interest though. I would like to find how long others had to wait until the item is shipped. The time I was given is one month. Is that typical?

That answer would depend on the company, like anything else you buy.

You don't list the company, but I can tell you it took about 3 weeks to order my Switlik SAR-6 through a dealer.

Thanks for the information. Three weeks seems reasonable. Maybe mine won't be delayed too much longer. Mine is coming from Survitec.

I buy direct from the manufacturer - if I phone them they deliver direct to the boat or my office within two working days. If I go to their warehouse, I can collect the next day. If I order via a chandler, normally a week. I would never order via a chandler though. If I am in another city, it may also take a week or so. That is why I asked "shipped from where to where". Life rafts can only legally be shipped via road or sea and are not supposed to be shipped via air unless the internal cylinder is removed. However, this said, I once had to ship one from Croatia to Cape Town via air-freight and it took one week to arrive, but I had to collect at the airport. So, different strokes for different folk!
