Crew Available: Female 23 with BA, EMT, CPR

I am a 23 year old writer. After I graduated from the University of North Carolina in December 2014, I took a three month solo road trip across the United States. For the past six months, I have been farming at a community garden in Asheville, NC. I am currently looking for opportunities to sail, to travel to Cuba, and to explore Latin America.

I am a certified Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), CPR with AED certified, and I have training in wilderness medicine from the National Outdoor Leadership School (NOLS). I am a consistently solid and creative cook. I enjoy labor that is both physically and mentally challenging. I want to learn as much about sailing as you are willing to share.

If you are looking for a crew member, please send me a private message. I am happy to provide a CV and references. I would prefer to sail from either Tampa Bay or Key West, beginning after Thanksgiving 2015. Flexible on destinations, duration.

Virginia to Bahamas to Haiti and Caribbean

Thinking about Marathon to Cuba for a week or so in December or Januaty. Other than standing watch on the overnight trip you would be on your own. Am thinking a few days in Havana then some stops on the North coast before returning. No prejudice against kids but I don't want to hear your music choices.

At 23yo, I'd try to have a learning experience out of it.

improving foreing languages

and technical capabilities

and sailing practice, of course

I would search for a large ship , possibly with a Purpose, and a large crew, with professional mariners and of experience.

do not jump into the first chance you get

I would avoid the laid back vacationer, or the happy family living aboard for fun, and would consider a professional skipper at a minimum, and a oceanographic tall ship at best (a recent post was from a kind of ship!!!)

again, people who make a living out of the sea are the best positioned to make of your adventures on sea a real must in your life.

And a good opportunity to say "thanks" to those moderators, keeping on top of things here and not letting our "corner of the net" turn dark, as seems common in so much of the rest of the web. Notwithstanding the 1st amendment (I'm a fan), but the rest of the web could really benefit from same "maintaining decorum". I really compliment CF as a tremendous community, and encourage everyone to send in a few $ (I think it's only $15 to be a paying member) to help further their work (it's less than one nights docking fee).
