Port Lavaca Tx

Did a search and found nothing on Port Lavaca. Nothing at all here on the 'redneck riviera' of the gulf coast. What a shame, hence this new thread. Has anyone been to this port? Just purchased a Hunter 33 Cherubini at the marina there. Liveaboard fee is $138 monthly and includes water and electric. Some of the best sailing and fishing here to be found. It is a sailors dream.

Thank you Gordmay for putting us on the map. Some Harvey damage here but marina is fully operational. Anyone sailed these waters besides Jean Lafitte?

Re: Port Lavaca Tx

I'll respond since I know where you are........I grew up about 10 miles north of there. Work cows on Saturday and wear out the bay on Sunday.

We literally wore the bottoms of the hulls out on two hobbie 16's in that bay over the years. We though it was cool to just drive them as fast as possible onto the crushed shell Magnoiia beach. We also thought it impressed the girls. Later in life I determined neither was true.

Between sailing the bay and fishing out of Port O'Connor, spent a lot of time in that area.

Then we all grew up.........or did our toys just get more expensive?

Re: Port Lavaca Tx

Think I will like the area much better. Little less touristy than Port A.

Beware: Port Lavaca Tx Update

You should run from this marina! Many have left including me due to the Nazi tactics of the current city manager and the marina. This is no joke. The Cost Guard is in the process of filing criminal charges against the city manager for his violation of maritime law. Also there is a severe problem with double billing or overbilling. Ran into this frequently and was even threatened personally at my boat by the head Nazi, the city manager. Besides it would put you about 20 miles from the gulf. One man had been there many years and had never missed a payment. When he arrived that Friday and found an eviction notice dropped inside his boat he was so angry that next morning he was in another marina. Not even a phone call after all the years he faithfully paid them. Very, very, unprofessional. Others have had property just simply thrown away and some have hired attornys. The marina has been losing many, many boats with only 2 new ones this year. There is a reason for that, so it would be best to stay clear of this marina because it is not a friendly place of boaters and would have to be the worst marina not only in Texas, but the worst I have ever heard of or experienced. Cruisers BEWARE...
