Windlass Servicing - Los Angeles Area

Does anyone know of a competent repair shop in the Los Angeles area for servicing a windlass?

I have a ~40 year old windlass on my Downeaster 45 that began to overheat and smoke on my last use and I'd like to get it serviced before any further damage is done.

I am assuming the previous owner never serviced it in his ~10 years of owning the boat and who knows before then. I am happy to begin servicing it regularly once it's back in good shape, but would rather not screw anything up on the first go around.

Any advice or recommendations are greatly appreciated!

Since the smoke is from the motor and windlass motors are similar to starting motors, find an auto electrical shop to do the work. They can certainly rebuild the motor and should also be able to remove the motor from the windlass for the repairs.
